Ekero Jiko is a local initiative founded in the Western Region of Kenya with unique innovations and techniques initiated and domesticated in Kenya aimed at enhancing technology in energy transfer. The inventive enterprise was founded in 1992 by a dedicated Entrepreneur and skilled Artisan Mr. Mohamed Olunga aka Engineer Majiko whose love for technical skills and innovation arose from talent, hobby and technical training. The Managing Director was a former employee of Kenya Energy and Environment Organization-(KENGO) for 10 years where he gained most skills and the zeal to run an Energy Conserving
Industry -the now Ekero Jiko Sales.
Ekero Jiko Products continue to attract orders from individuals, institutions and industries as they fit both domestic and commercial consumption. The uptake of Ekero products by Homesteads, Schools, Hotels and Cottage Manufacturing Industries has grown steadily over the years courtesy of the noted energy saving cooking appliances. He commenced active cook-stove sales in 1994. Ekero Jiko was visible and proactive in Exhibitions from early 1995. The Firm became an active member of Mumias Jua-Kali Association. The Company created space for apprenticeship and elementary training of impoverished and skills-thirst women and youth in making and construction of cook-stoves, marketing and book-keeping. Some successful women and youth developed the backdrop of their livelihoods from the respective initiative
